Gotta Lotta Vata? – Ayurveda for a Wonderful Winter
In this brief afternoon workshop, Niika will share how Ayurveda can help you understand your own true needs, and how you can each best care for yourself (and your loved ones too, if you like) during the wintry days and nights of this busy, chilly season. By guiding us to gaze at life through the eyes of Ayurveda (the ancient sister-science of yoga and holistic healing system from India), Niika will lead us through simple, pleasurable self-care practices and food choices you can turn to anytime to restore your balance - mentally, physically and emotionally - and keep yourself strong, calm, confident and cozy – right to the dawn of Spring!
Tea will be waiting for you.
Got questions? Ask whatever you like about how to select a healthy winter diet, lifestyle and spiritual practice, or about Ayurveda in general. Niika is dedicated to awakening the 'inner sage' in all her students.

Goddess Night
Niika jumps in with other women presenting on this special night to evoke the Divine in each woman attending. Niika honors the power of vibration to create our mental and emotional states, and has played and sung sacred music all her life. Niika was the director of kirtan and bhajan for many years in the Siddha Yoga Dham ashram in Oakland, New York and Maharashtra, India. Some say her singing voice is entrancing, but Niika's guru once encouraged the hundreds of devotees who had gathered together for a long chanting session: "If you don't have a good singing voice, chant even louder. Let God hear what he gave you!"
Niika will intone a rare and beautiful hymn to the Supreme Goddess in Karnatak (one of the many languages of India). Then through guided breathing, vibration and song, Niika will lead us all into a blissful state, where we can't miss connecting with the power and sweetness of the Goddess within. Woman - Be a Light unto the Darkness
How Ayurvedic Knowledge Can Help You Shine Strong in all Seasons
As the days grow darker and pressures seem to rise all around us, how can we stand strong, balanced and peaceful?
How can we shine bright internally and out into our world in these times?
Ayurveda holds many keys to a live of health and personal enlightenment. This afternoon Niika Quistgard, CAS, will guide us to explore - through our senses and engaging our intuitive body (or "truth indicator') - simple, enjoyable shifts we can make to let our true spirit shine fearlessly out into the world. This is especially applicable during the holiday season as we prepare to spend time with loved ones, and what better gift can we give ourselves, than to dive into knowledge and skills that will help us be the beacons of peace, strength and health we were born to be.
This afternoon workshop is open to all women regardless of how much Ayurvedic knowledge they may have (or not have!) Niika will touch upon material she presented in the Women's Health workshop she offered on her last visit to Karuna Shala in the Spring, and guide a rich exploration of our inner treasures and how to keep ourselves in balance through supported digestion and removing toxicity - in body and mind - so we are always free to access our ultimate value.
